Sid Bush, July 27 to August 2

1)      Please describe any significant events that occurred this week and what you think about them

The US has been recording more than 1,000 deaths per day for the last week. We’ve reached over 150,000 deaths nationwide. Cases are rising in 40 states, and Congress is debating heavily over the finer details of the next stimulus check that will roll out because the unemployment rate is still far too high. Schools are still struggling with how to manage classes in the Fall, between parents who want their kids back in school and teachers who don’t feel safe to come back. I understand where they’re both coming from, but an online education should be enough to get students through the year – especially if it keeps students and teachers safe. Everyone wants to go back to how things were before, but the world is not ready for that yet.

2)      Were there any significant changes between this week and last week?

There are less than two weeks left until the Fall semester begins, and I am excited despite everything. Who knows how long campus will be able to stay open, but I’m getting my education one way or another.
