1)      Please describe any significant events that occurred this week and what you think about them

Wow. A lot has happened in the past week. Not to me personally, that has been dull, but to the world around me. I think the world, the United States in particular, is quite desperate to go back to normal, whatever “normal” was. I don’t subscribe to any particular political ideology, and I don’t typically discuss politics. I now intend to break that trend, just for this journal.

I have never once taken the freedoms living in the United States comes with. I fully believe in freedoms recognized in the United States Constitution, and some not recognized in the Constitution. However, I have always wondered if that freedom has negatively impacted our culture and how we as American individuals interact with the world around us. I often wonder if those freedoms have made us spoiled and selfish. Americans have a strong sense of individualism. I might argue that can sometimes translate into selfishness.

I live in a country where many pitch a fit at the very idea of wearing a mask to protect others. These people claim their freedom is being infringed upon because Costco won’t allow customers into their stores without a mask. These same people take their masks off in a hospital because the masks are uncomfortable. I believe a large portion of the American people are more concerned with their own comfort and convenience than the good of others.

2)      Were there any significant changes between this week and last week?

My life has not changed significantly in this past week. However, the United States seems to be turning upside-down this week. I won’t go into detail on my opinions of the recent protest, but I just hope nobody else gets hurt.
