Monday: Nothing to note here. Tuesday: Starting today masks are required to be worn by customers shopping at Publix. This follows a growing trend of establishments mandating that masks be worn by shoppers. I do not work today, but I do Wednesday through Friday so I will see how that goes over with our shoppers. Wednesday: I worked today. Most customers are wearing masks, however, there are a good many who do not. The people who do not wear a mask range from not realizing that masks are required to simply not caring. We can tell people that masks are required, but that is it. We can not force them to leave. Thursday: If I have not said before, I am a volunteer at Ninety-Six National Historic Site. Due to the pandemic, most NPS parks and historic sites are either closed or not doing in-person events. Weekly Log What week does this log cover? Monday, June 29 th – Sunday, July 5 th 1) Please describe any significant events that occurred this week and what you think about them It is now July. Man, times flies when you’re sitting in your home being too scared to go outside. That’s how the saying goes, right? I am slated to return to Lander University August 4 th , as that is the day resident assistants move in. The virus, from my understanding has not even gotten close to winding down. This begs the question: what is going to happen to school? For selfish reasons, I would be completely heartbroken if all of my classes were conducted online and I had to stay home. For logical reasons, I am also worried if classes were conducted online, or if school transitioned online halfway through the semester like it did last year. I am supposed to have my field experience this semester, meaning I go to middle school and h...

Monday: Effective this morning, face masks are required in the city of Greenwood. There is something else I want to add. There seems to be a divide among teachers, at least from what I have seen, in regard to going back to school. Some really do not want to and are worried, but others seem ok with it. It would be interesting how schools and teachers were affected and handled the 1918 pandemic. Some research needs to be done to see the connections between then and now. Tuesday: Face masks are required in the city of Aiken, South Carolina. An email was sent out to the Lander student body. So, face masks will be required to be worn while in classrooms and other certain spaces. I am fully onboard for this! As someone who has worn a mask for the majority of this pandemic at work it does not bother me at all. I fully believe that there is enough evidence from multiple creditable sources that masks do help. However, I know many of my fellow peers at Lander will not be happ...
